L'intelligence des oiseaux n'est plus à prouver. Cette expérience  avec un perroquet goulu en est la énième preuve. Soit une graine impossible à atteindre sauf à fabriquer un outil approprié et à le manipuler avec dextérité. Le perroquet va agir différemment à chaque matériau qu'il a à sa disposition : bout de bois, branchette feuillue, bout de carton. Double tâche : concevoir l'outil de la bonne taille, puis le manipuler judicieusement pour faire tomber la graine. Impressionnant.

Researchers from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna and the University of Oxford report that Goffin cockatoos can make and use elongated- tools of appropriate shape and length out of amorphous materials, suggesting that the birds can anticipate how the tools will be used.
