Corée du Nord : le discours de Yeonmi

Yeonmi Park s'est échappée de Corée du Nord à l'âge de 13 ans.

Ce discours a été prononcé au One Young World Summit à Dublin en 2014. De quoi faire pleurer dans les chaumières.

Ensuite, il faut lire le billet ci-dessous pour mettre un bémol à tout ce qui est dit là. Un instant, je me suis posé la question de savoir si c'était un blog de propagande nord-coréen. Je ne pense pas d'autant plus que c'est la traduction d'un article de The Diplomat, site qui semble assez objectif.

Donc, le discours de Yeonmi est fondé sur des éléments réels de sa propre histoire mais il est survendeur. La tournée mondiale de cette jeune fille est chorégraphiée à partir d'un arrière plan un peu flou. Ce qu'il gagne en empathie et en adhésion émotionnelle immédiate, il le perd en crédibilité et c'est dommage.

Yeonmi Park is backed by the American Libertarian non-profit organization, Atlas Foundation. She’s one of its Young Voices and has recently started her own foundation based in New York – you can donate online through PayPal, but what exactly your money will be used for is not clear. What is clear though, is that “Yeonmi is travelling and speaking in 2014” and “is available for international speeches.”

“I want the world to know my story so they will know and remember the story of North Korea” the foundation’s website reads.

But can the world rely on the memory of a 21 year old who left North Korea when she was thirteen? And what are the consequences if her memory has failed her and the picture she’s presenting of her life in North Korea and her escape to South Korea is not accurate?"
